णिव्वाणे कसिणे पडिपुणे अव्वाहए णिरावरणे अनंते अणुत्तरे केवलवरणाण-दंसणे समुप्पणे ।
३८४. उसके पश्चात् श्रमण भगवान महावीर को इस प्रकार से विचरण करते हुए बारह वर्ष व्यतीत हो गये । तेरहवें वर्ष के मध्य में ग्रीष्म ऋतु के दूसरे मास और चौथे पक्ष में अर्थात् वैशाख शुक्ला दशमी के दिन, सुव्रत नामक दिवस में, विजय मुहूर्त में उत्तराफाल्गुनी नक्षत्र के साथ चन्द्रमा का योग आने पर, पूर्वगामिनी छाया होने पर दिन के दूसरे (पिछले ) प्रहर में जृम्भकग्राम नामक नगर के बाहर ऋजुबालिका नदी के उत्तर तट पर श्यामाक गृहपति के काष्ठकरण नामक क्षेत्र में, वैयावृत्य नामक चैत्य (उद्यान) के ईशानकोण में शालवृक्ष के निकट, उत्कटुक ( उकडू) होकर गोदोहासन से सूर्य की आतापना लेते हुए, निर्जल षष्ठभक्त (प्रत्याख्यान ) तप से युक्त, ऊपर घुटने और नीचा सिर झुकाकर धर्मध्यान में युक्त, ध्यानकोष्ठ में प्रविष्ट हुए भगवान जब शुक्लध्यानान्तरिका में अर्थात् लगातार शुक्लध्यान के मध्य में प्रवर्तमान थे, तभी उन्हें अज्ञान एवं दुःख से पूर्ण निवृत्ति दिलाने वाला, सम्पूर्ण, प्रतिपूर्ण, अव्याहत, निरावरण अनन्त, अनुत्तर श्रेष्ठ केवलज्ञान - केवलदर्शन उत्पन्न हुआ ।
ATTAINING OMNISCIENCE
384. Twelve years passed since Shraman Bhagavan Mahavir commenced his itinerant way. It was the fourth fortnight of the second month of summer season during the middle of the thirteenth year of his practices. It was the tenth day of the bright half of the month of Vaishakha and the shadows had moved to the east during the last quarter of the day.
