रूप दर्शन-संयम ग्रामानुग्राम विचरण करने वाले भिक्षु को अनेक प्रकार के दृश्य रूप दिखाई पड़ते हैं। जैसे(१) दीवारों पर फूलों के सुन्दर स्वस्तिक आदि बने हुए। पुतली आदि की विविध आकृतियाँ, हाथी
के दाँत व लकड़ी आदि की कृतियाँ (खिलौने)। (२) उद्यान, देवालय, परकोटे तथा अनेक प्रकार की दर्शनीय इमारतें। (३) वर की विवाह-यात्रा के दृश्य, नृत्य।। (४) युद्ध-क्षेत्र, महिष-साँड आदि के युद्ध तथा पहलवानों की कुश्ती एवं पशु-पक्षियों के युद्ध
स्थल आदि।
आँखों के सामने इस प्रकार के कुतूहलवर्धक, आश्चर्यकारी दृश्य आने पर भी भिक्षु उन्हें देखने के लिए उत्सुक एवं आतुर नहीं हो तथा अपनी चक्षु इन्द्रिय के विषयों पर पूर्ण संयम रखे। यह भिक्षु की रूप प्रतिमा है।

DISCIPLINE OF SEEING An itinerant ascetic comes across a variety of scenes. For example, (1) Walls with beautiful illustrations of flowers, swastika etc. A
variety of puppets and toys made of ivory, wood etc. (2) Gardens, temples, parapet walls and other attractive buildings. (3) Marriage processions, dances etc. (4) Battle fields, bull-fights, wrestling, arenas where animal or bird
fights take place. Even when such entertaining and exciting scenes are before his eyes, an ascetic should avoid eagerness to see them. He should exercise discipline over his desire for scenic enjoyment. This is the selfregulation related to form.
