वस्त्र - एषणा : वस्त्रों के प्रकार
जो साधु-साध्वी अपने लिए वस्त्र ग्रहण करना चाहे वह जाने कि वस्त्र छह प्रकार के होते हैं(१) जांगिक (जांगमिक) - स जीवों से निष्पन्न। (अ) विकलेन्द्रिय त्रस जीव निष्पन्न वस्त्र-शहतूत के कीड़ों आदि की लार से बने विविध प्रकार के रेशमी वस्त्र, अथवा (ब) पंचेन्द्रिय जीवों के बाल, . रोम आदि से बने वस्त्र ।

(२) भांगिक वस्त्र - अलसी से निष्पन्न तथा वंशकरील के मध्य भाग को कूटकर बनाये हुए वस्त्र । (३) सानज - पटसन, वृक्ष की छाल आदि से बने वस्त्र ।
(४) पौत्रक - ताड़ आदि के पत्तों से बने वस्त्र |
(५) क्षौमिक - कपास आदि से बने वस्त्र ।
(६) तूलकृत - आक आदि की रुई से बने वस्त्र |
सांधु अल्प मूल्य वाले सूती और ऊनी वस्त्र मर्यादा अनुसार धारण कर सकता है। - अध्ययन ५, सूत्र २११
SEEKING CLOTH: TYPES OF CLOTH
An ascetic who wants to get clothes for himself should know that clothes are of six kinds-
(1) Jangik (jangamik) - of animal origin. (a) Vikalendriya (two to four sensed beings) origin-different types of silk from silkworms, or (b) Panchendriya origin-made of fur or skin of animals and birds.
(2) Bhangik-of linseed origin or made by pounding the pith of vanshahareel plant (the shoot of a bamboo plant).
(3) Sanaj - made of fibres produced from the bark of plants like jute.
(4) Potrak-made of a bunch of large leaves like those of palm.
(5) Kshaumik-made of cotton.
(6) Toolkrit-made of fibres of swallow-wort and other such fibres. An ascetic can use low cost cotton or woollen clothes within his prescribed limit.
