Anticipating the possibilities of so many faults while living with a householder family the Tirthankars have framed this code for ascetics that they should neither stay nor do their ascetic activities including meditation in inhabited houses.
८८. आयाणमेयं भिक्खुस्स सागारिए उवस्सए संवसमाणस्स। इह खलु गाहावई वा जाव कम्मकरी वा अण्णमण्णं अक्कोसंति वा वहति वा रुंभंति वा उद्दविंति वा। अह भिक्खू णं उच्चावयं मणं णियंच्छिज्जा एए खलु अण्णमण्णं अक्कोसंतु वा, मा वा अक्कोसंतु, जाव मा वा उद्दवेंतु। अह भिक्खूणं पुब्बोवइट्ठा ४ जं तहप्पगारे सागारिए उवस्सए णो ठाणं वा ३ चेइज्जा।
८८. गृहस्थ परिवारयुक्त उपाश्रय में निवास करना साधु के लिए दोषों का कारण है क्योंकि उसमें गृहपति यावत् उसकी नौकर-नौकरानियाँ आदि रहती हैं। कदाचित् वे परस्पर एक-दूसरे को कठोर वचन कहें, मारें-पीटें या उपद्रव करें तो उन्हें ऐसा करते देखकर साधु के मन में ऊँचे-नीचे भाव आ सकते हैं। वह सोच सकता है कि ये परस्पर मारें-पीटें : या उपद्रव आदि करें अथवा नहीं करें। इसीलिए तीर्थंकरों ने पहले से ही ऐसा नियम बताया है कि गृहस्थयुक्त उपाश्रय में साधु नहीं ठहरे। __88. Living in the same house with householder families is a source of faults for an ascetic. This is because the head of the family and other members including servants live there. They may abuse each other, fight or turn violent. When the ascetic witnesses this, he may get mentally disturbed. He may think whether or not they should quarrel among themselves. Therefore Tirthankars have framed this code for ascetics that they should neither stay nor do their ascetic activities including meditation in inhabited houses.
८९. आयाणमेयं भिक्खुस्स गाहावइहिं सद्धि संवसमाणस्स। इह खलु गाहावइ अप्पणो सअट्ठाए अगणिकायं उज्जालिज्ज वा पज्जालिज्ज वा विज्झाविज्ज वा। अह भिक्खू उच्चावयं मणं नियंच्छिज्जा एए खलु अगणिकायं उज्जालेंतु वा, मा वा उज्जालेंतु, पज्जालेंतु वा, मा वा पज्जालेंतु, विज्झावेंतु वा, मा वा विज्झावेंतु। अह के भिक्खूणं पुव्वोवइट्ठा ४ जं तहप्पगारे उवस्सए णो ठाणं वा ३ चेइज्जा।
८९. साधु का गृहस्थों के साथ एक मकान में निवास करना कर्मबन्ध का कारण है क्योंकि उसमें रहता हुआ गृहस्थ अपने काम के लिए अग्निकाय को उज्ज्वलित-प्रज्वलित आचारांग सूत्र (भाग २)
