According to the Sutrakritanga Vritti ‘kush' means eight types of * arma. Those who destroy karmas are called kushal (accomplished).
The term is also used as an adjective for Tirthankar Bhagavan Mahavir.
१०६. उद्देसो पासगस्स णत्थिा बाले पुण णिहे कामसमणुण्णे असमियदुक्खे दुक्खी दुक्खाणमेव आवढं अणुपरियट्टइ। त्ति बेमि।
॥ छट्टो उद्देसओ समत्तो ॥
॥ लोगविजओ : बीअं अज्झयणं सम्मत्तं ॥ १०६. (पूर्व कथित हिंसा एवं परिग्रह के दोषों को जानने वाला) जो द्रष्टा By अथवा आत्मदर्शी है, उसके लिए कोई उद्देश (विधि-निषेध रूप विधान/निदेश अथवा . उपदेश) नहीं है।
___ बाल-(अज्ञानी) बार-बार विषयों में स्नेह-(आसक्ति) करता है। विषयों को मनोज्ञ ... समझता है इसलिए वह दुःखों का शमन नहीं कर पाता। वह (शारीरिक एवं मानसिक)
दुःखों से दुःखी बना हुआ दुःखों के आवर्त-चक्र में ही परिभ्रमण करता रहता है। ___-ऐसा मैं कहता हूँ।

॥ लोक-विजय : द्वितीय अध्ययन समाप्त ॥ 106. For him who sees (the soul and knows the evils of ne violence and attachment) there is no advise (preaching or codes of conduct).
An ignorant continues to hanker for mundane pleasures. As he likes mundane pleasures he is unable to subdue grief. Plagued by miseries (physical and mental) he continues to whirl around in the whirlpool of miseries. -So I say.
