RENUNCIATION himself a resolution to renounce the world—a resolution which no earthly circumstances could change or alter. He overcame all the objections raised by his father and soothed the tears of his loving mother, who bewailed her sad fate. At last, having with great difficulty obtained their consent, he came back to Bhawnagar, and, throwing himself at the feet of the Guru, begged to be invested with the garb of the monk. Satisfied with the earnestness and enthusiasm of the youth, Vriddhi Chandra received him with pleasure; and, having made him go through the formalities needed, initiated him into the holy Order of Monks. Thus, in his nineteenth year, on the 12th day of May, 1887, Mūla Chandra was consecrated a monk, to be known from that time by the name of Dharma Vijaya.
