Jinasena
A Digambara writer. See Bhandarkar, "Early History of the Deccan, p. 65; and Report 1883–84, p. 118. Author, among other works, of the Harivansa. 4, 167. He wrote this work in the Saka year 705 ;“ when Indrayudha was ruling the North Country, Vallabha, the son of Krishna, ruling the south country, Vatsaraja (Bhandarkar's correction of “Vatasadhiraje" for the “ Vatsadiraje ” of the m3s.• is not required: with “Vatsadi” in this line compare "Jayayute" in the next) King of Ujjayini ruling the East country, and Jayavira surnamed Varaha, ruling the West country, or the land of the Sauryas.” (verse 52 of prasasti). In the prasasti a great many teachers, from Mahavira downwards, are named, but not apparently in exact succession. Jinasena himself was the pupil of Dharmasahodaya, who was the pupil of Amitasena.
