Khinda (or Khindaka)—
Author of the Hillaja, a work on astrology. According to the commentator Ramesvara this science was in the beginning taught by Brahma to Surya. In consequence of a curse Surya had to go and live in the city of Rome. There he taught what he had learned from Brahma, and Romaka wrote it down in fair verse. Khinda's work was based on Romaka's. 4,60. Compare 2,130.
Giridharadasa
The third of the six sons of Mandhatri, otherwise called Gopaladasa, King of Ajmere, by his chief wife Kumari. His two elder brothers were Balirama and Vitthaladasa; and his three younger, Vijayarama, Manoharadasa, and Pradyumna. Giridharadasa himself had a son called Harijana. It was for the edification of these and other princes named that Vedangaraya wrote by Giridhara's request a work which he called after his patron's name Giridharananda. 4,45,
