INDEX OF AUTHORS.
XXXV
Jinachandra (Sri Jinachandra)
Guru of Amradevasûri and pupil of Nemichandra. This last was the author of an Akkhanayamaņikośa, on which Âmradevasûri wrote a commentary in Samvat 1190 (date of the composition of the work, not of the MS. as Klatt puts it). 3, App. p. 81.
Jinachandra
Pupil of Jinaprabodha in the Kharatara gachchha. (Jinaprabodha and Jinachandra are Nos. 48 and 49 with Klatt.) “Born, Samvat 1326 : dikshâ, Samvat 1332 : padamahotsava, Samvat 1341. He converted four kings and went under the biruda of Kalikâlake valin. Died, Samvat 1376.” Klatt, He gave dîkshâ to Taruņaprabha, who wrote in Samyat 1411. 3, App. p. 221.
Jinachandra
Of the Kharatara gachchha. Mentioned as the garu of Jinasagara, in acknowledgment of whose teaching a copy of Haribhadrasûri's Avaśyśakabřihadvșitti was made at the cspense of certain śrâvakas in the city of Devakulapátaka in Mewar, Kumbhakarņa reigning, in Samvat 1492. 3, App. p. 203. Klatt, Onomasticon, identifies this Jinachandra with No. 53 in his list. But that teacher died in Samyat 14.15. A successor of his can hardly have been alive in Samyat 1492.
Jinadatta sûri
Succeeded Jinavallabha in the Karatara gachchha (Jinavallabha and Jinadatta are Nos. 43 and 44 with Klatt). 3, App. p. 221 : “Ambâdattayugapradhânapada,” 3, App. p. 314: 3, App. p. 323. “Born, Samvat 1132; mûlanama, Somachandra; dîkshâ, Samyat 1141, dikshanama Prabodhachandraganin; sûripada from Devabhadrâchârya at Chitraknta (Chittore), Samvat 1169. He propagated the Jain religion by miracles which he performed in many cities; he composed the Sandehadolâvali and many other works, and died at Ajmere, Samvat 1211." Klatt.
