THE RELIGIOUS PROBLEM IN INDIA
In that sense only is Islam the one religion; all men of every faith who surrender themselves to God are truly children of Islam, in the sens ense in which the Prophet of Islam used the word. It is nothing if his followers have narrowed it in later days. I appeal to the Prophet against his followers; as I have often appealed to the Christ against the Christians, and to the Rşhis against the modern Hindus. "On a certain day we will call all men to judgment with their respective leaders: and whosoever shall have his book given him into his righthand, they shall read their book with joy and satisfaction."
