III. Mul Sutras.
These are four in number. 1. AvasyAKA Sutra including Vishesa vasyaka
and Pakshika Sutras. These deal with higher Jain principles and philosophy, logic
and history. 2. DASAVAIKALIKA SUTRA. It contains rules of
conduct for the ascetics. 3. PINDANIRYUKTI and OGHNIRYUKTI Sutras.
These contain rules of begging and collec
lecting alms and food by the ascetics. 4. UTTARADHYAYAN SUTRA. It contains 36
lectures on various interesting subjects (Translated in the Sacred Book of the East Vol XLV.)
IV. Chheda Sutras. CHHEDA Sutras are six in number and they contain rules of penance and other regulations of the church.
1. VYABAHARDASAKALPA SUTRA. 2. VRIHATKALPA SUTRA. 3. DASHASHRUTASKANDHA SUTRA. 4. NISHITHA SUTRA. - 5. MAHANISHITHA SUTRA. 6. PANCHAKALPA SUTRA (now extinct) and JitKALPA Sutra.
