When we consider the general nature of Uni verse- the Universe or of our life as rational being, Subject, Ob
endowed Unity be.
with the powers of thinking and willing, we find that it is defined and, so to speak, circumscribed by three ideas which are closely and even indissolubly connected with each other. These are (i) the idea of the Object
(Htrt) or Not-self ( ta) (ii) the idea of the Subject (Ha) or the Self (hta) (iii) and the idea of the Unity which is presupposed in the clifference of the Self and the Not-self and in and through which they act and react on each other.
