The Picts The term "Picts," from Latin Picti, "painted," is considered by some scholars as applied to an otherwise unknown indigenous name. The Celtic-Irish term for "Picts" was Cruithen, Cruithri, Cruitnech; Cruithentuath being the term for the country of the Picts."
