It is rightly said by Sankara that with the Sword of Dispassion, the seeker must destroy the Crocodiles of Desires and make his way safe to cross to the other shores of Samsar.
विषमविषयमार्गःगच्छतोनच्छबुद्धेः
प्रतिपदमभियातो मृत्युरप्येष विद्धि । हितसुजमगुरूक्त्या गच्छतः स्वस्य युक्त्या
प्रभवति फलसिद्विः सत्यमित्येव विद्वि ॥ ८१॥ vişamavi şayamārgergachato (a) nachabudpheh
pratipadamabhiyāto mytyurāpyeșa viddhi hitasujadagurñktya gachatah svasya yuktyā
prabhavati phalasiddhih satyamityeva viddhi 81.

Know that mortality soon overtakes a foolish man who walks the dangerous path of sense-pleasures.
