The medicine does not create health, but it only removes the enemies of the health within and, perhaps, produces a conducive atmosphere within, wherein more and more of the true health can come to manifest. The conducive conditions necessary for this consummate existence in perfect health are to be accomplished in the very individual who is unhealthy, and therefore, he has to take the medicine himself. Nobody else can help him by taking his medicine. Similarly, the misunderstandings created by one's own ignorance can be removed and the necessary conditions required for a fuller expression of the Reality in him can be brought about in him only by his own efforts. In short, each one of us has to walk the path alone, guided by the instructions of the teacher and the Scriptures.
वस्तुस्वरूपं स्फुटबोधचक्षुषा स्वेनैव वेद्यं न तु पण्डितेन । चन्द्रस्वरूपं निजचक्षुषैव
ज्ञातव्यमन्यैरवगम्यते किम् ॥ ५४ ॥

The actuality of things is to be known by a first hand personal experience through the eye of clear understanding, and not through reports of any other learned men. The joyous experience of the moon is to be realised by one's own eyes. Can one know it through others?
