This knowledge is in fact kevala-jñāna, omniscience in all its power. As the karmic veil which darkens knowledge gradually becomes less thick, the jiva purified, discerns and recognises forthwith all that is foreign to its nature and spontaneously detaches itself therefrom. The avaśyakas and the rite embodying them are only props, temporary aids that must be used and then transcended.
