of Sarasvati, did not ignore this outrage but demanded that the king should set his sister free. The king refused. Whereupon, Kālaka, muni though he was, did not hesitate to attack the king with the assistance of neighbouring princes. They won the day and Sarasvati, at liberty once more, returned to the other sādhvis.91 This story excmplifies a certain chivalry of spirit, which led a muni, in order to protest against this attack on modesty and to preserve the virtue and honour of a sādhvi, unhesitatingly to take up arms.
