________________ All in Good Faith WORLD CONGRESS OF FAITHS Registered Charity 244096 The World Congress of Faiths (WCF) was founded in 1936 by Sir Francis Younghusband. In 1903, in Lhasa, Tibet, he had a decisive spiritual experience of an underlying unity of all beings. His hope was that, through WCF, members of all religious traditions would become aware of this universal experience and that 'the roots of fellowship would strike down deep to the Central Source of all spiritual loveliness'. The WCF, which is based in Britain, has arranged a wide variety of conferences, helping people to learn about other faiths and to rethink traditional attitudes of opposition and hostility. It has encouraged members to appreciate one another's spiritual practices and on occasions to pray together. WCF has developed links with like-minded groups across the world and has helped to establish the International Interfaith Centre at Oxford. Its journal, World Faiths Encounter, which is supplied free to members, is an important forum for discussion of interfaith concerns and developments. Marcus Braybrooke's A Wider Vision, published by Oneworld Publications, tells the history of the movement. Anyone sympathetic to the ideals of the World Congress of Faiths is welcome to apply for membership, which costs £20. WORLD CONGRESS OF FAITHS 2 Market Street Oxford OX1 3EF - 166
