All in Good Faith
Scripture as if they had destroyed the whole world, and anyone who saves a single soul as if they had saved the whole world. Also for the sake of peace among human beings, so that no one may have a right to say to another, 'My ancestor was greater than your ancestor!' And again, to proclaim the greatness of God: for we stamp many coins with one seal, and they are all alike, but the Sovereign above all sovereigns, the Holy One, who is ever to be blessed, has stamped all human beings with the seal of Adam, yet not two of them are alike. Therefore every individual must say, 'The world was created for my sake!'
All stand to say together the second Affirmation led by The Dean with the words:
Let us say together the second Affirmation:
We affirm our common faith in the dignity and unique worth of the human person irrespective of colour, class or creed.
All sit for the anthem, sung by the Boys of the Westminster Abbey Choir:
Love one another with a pure heart fervently, see that ye love one another.
Music: Samuel Sebastian Wesley (1810-76)
Words: 1 Peter 1:22
3. JUSTICE AND PEACE
All remain seated for The Reading from the Guru Granth Sahib.
This wonder of the Lord have I beheld, my cherished beloved! That whatever He does is righteous and just. The Lord has made this world His play-house, my cherished beloved! In which the players but come and go. It is He who created this world that destined us to be born and die. Some by uniting them to the holy Preceptor, to Himself He calls: Some in illusion stray about. Lord! to Thee alone is Thy extent known, And in all Creation art Thou pervasive. Nanak speaketh the truth, listen 0 saints, That whatever the Lord does is righteous and just.
All remain seated for The Baha'i Reading from The Hidden words of Baha'ullah.
O Son of Spirit! The best beloved of all things in My sight is Justice: turn not away therefrom if thou desirest Me, and neglect if not that I may confide in thee. By its aid thou shalt see with thine own eyes and not through the eyes of others, and shalt know of thine own knowledge and not through the knowledge of thy neighbour. Ponder this in thy heart; how it behoveth thee to be. Verily justice is My gift to thee and the sign of My loving-kindness. Set it then before thine eyes.
