उत्थान और पतन
हिंसा, असत्य, चोरी, कुशील, ममत्व, क्रोध, मान, माया, लोभ, राग, द्वेष, कलह, मिथ्या दोषारोपण, चुगली, असंयम में अनुरक्ति, संयम से विरक्ति, निन्दा, माया मृषा और मिथ्यात्व — ये अठारह प्रकार के पाप हैं, जिनके सेवन से आत्मा पतन को प्राप्त होती है। इन पापों से विरत होने पर आत्मा उत्थान को प्राप्त होकर मुक्त हो जाती है ।
Rise and Fall
Violence, untruth, theft, carnal desire, possessiveness, anger, conceit, deceit, greed, attachment, aversion, engaging in quarrels, character assassination, backbiting, liking for sensual pleasures and dislike for self-restraint, malevolent criticism, indulging in deceptive activities and wrong faith are the eighteen types of sins which cause the soul to fall down into bondage. The soul which remains away from these sins rises high and achieves emancipation.
