परमात्म तत्त्व इन्द्रिय समूह को आत्मा के रूप में स्वीकार करनेवाला, उन्हीं में आसक्त रहनेवाला, बहिरात्मा है। आत्मा को देह से भिन्न समझनेवाला अन्तरात्मा है। कर्म के आवरण को मुक्त करनेवाला आत्मा परमात्मा है।
Super Soul External soul is that which is led by the senses. Internal soul is that which knows itself to be different from the body and supreme soul is that which has annihilated the karmas and attained liberation.
आत्मा क्या है ? यह आत्मा ही वैतरणी (स्वर्ग की नदी) है और यही कूट शाल्मली वृक्ष है। यही कामदुहा धेनु (सब इच्छाओं को पूर्ण करनेवाली गाय) है और यही नंदन वन है।
What is Soul ? The soul itself is the river Vaitarani (a river in heaven) and the thorny tree of Śālmali. The soul is also Kāmadhenu (wish-fulfilling cow) and the divine garden Nandana.
