March/April (Chaitra) & September October (Ashwin), the nine-day Oli period of semi-fasting called Ayambilis observed by takingonly one meal a day of very plain food (without any spices, salt, milk, oil, butter, fruits or vegetables). It is observed to meditate upon Pancha Paramesthi. Jnan, Darshan, Charitra, & Tapa, which are collectively known as Navapada. The importance of Navapada is preached by the sermons given during these days. King Shripal & Mayanasundari were ardent devotees of Navapada.

Chaturdashi, comes to an end of the full moon dayin Kartik. Afterthis, the Jain Sadhus & Sadhvis begin their wandering Padyatra. i.e. travel on foot. A pilgrimage to Shatrunjay - Palitana on this day is considered to be of great importance. Thousands of Jains go on pilgrimages on this day. This day also is celebrated as the birth-day of Kalikalasarvajna Acharya Bhagwant Srimadvijay Hemchandrasuriji who was born on this day. (in Vikram
