ishabhadev, the first Tirthankar had
son and Bahubali was the second. All the other children took Diksha with Him when Rishabhadev renounced the world. Bharat wanted to be the sovereign of all kings. Hence, he travelled home after conquering all the kings of India. However, he soon realized that his younger brother Bahubali was not under his rule. Hence, he sent a messenger to Bahubali, the King of Takshashila, to accept his superiority. He hoped that Bahubali would surrender to him without a fight.
Bahubali, however, was not prepared to accept his brother as a sovereign king. When Bharat came to know of this he was very angry. He ordered his army to march towards and invade Taksha-shila.
The armies of both brothers were strong and war between the two was sure to result in a large-scale bloodshed. The counselors on both sides tried to prevent their masters from resorting to war: but neither of them would give up his ground. The war seemed inevitable and both brothers brought their armies face to face with each other. Every one shuddered at the prospect of the heavy casualties that would result due to the imminent war.
At last the counselors explained to their masters that the point at issue pertained to the determination of the superiority between the two. Instead of going to a large-scale war for that purpose they may better resort to a fight
LIVING VALUES
Just as we need food for our body to nourish it, so we need food for the
nourishment of our mind. When our mind does not get good thoughts, positive ideas, which are its nutrition, it becomes weak And just as a weak body becomes the victim of any disease or virus, in the same way a weak mind can become the victim of any influence.
It becomes impressionable, and wherever it goes, it takes on the colour of that influence. It doesn't have its own special way of thinking.
a
A weak mind is more dangerous than weak body. If somebody has a weak body, it is noticeable, and he can take vitamins, proper food or yoga postures to strengthen it. But if the mind becomes
weak, it is not so easily noticed. Ultimately, the strength of the mind helps strengthen the body; and together they help the soul on its eternal journey.
Diseases of soul are more dangerous and more numerous than those of the body.
