The Meditation System
The methods of meditation described in this book are universal and intended for anyone interested in expanding his or her awareness. This form of meditation goes far beyond those schools of "instant" meditation which appear to be the current fad. This meditation does not rely on any secret rituals or mantras for which students are charged exorbitant fees. Meditation does not involve mechanical repetition of meaningless sounds. It does not promise students occult or psychic powers. The goal of meditation is not solely relaxation, although relaxation is one of the obvious benefits that flow from its practice. This meditation works on far deeper levels. It is attuned to modern psychology and seeks to encourage us to overcome negativity, to erase and replace conditioning and influences which have not allowed us to fulfil our potential. It stresses the gradual development of twenty-four hour awareness in addition to the recommended twenty-four minute period of meditation. Finally, meditation is practiced to experience ourselves in the deepest loving and peaceful state. The aim is to go beyond mere words and concepts, to realize what is permanent in ourselves, and to approach the world from that central reality.
