In this world all who have done something wrong want to run away from the consequences of what they have done. Some of these succeed in making good their escape, but some get caught and are put behind bars. The others, though they have escaped, know in their heart of hearts that they are guilty. And which of us can lay his hand on his heart and declare that he never has done anything wrong, or that he never has experienced a sense of guilt?, And though all of us are not punished by the law because all of us are not found out, those who are honest in their judgment upon themselves would feel that they should administer some sort of punishment to themselves for having done something wrong. This would liberate them from their sense of guilt, and, in future, deter them from repeating their wrong deed. . But to come back to our story. The gentleman, as I told you earlier, took to his heels fearing that he would be held responsible for the unaccountable fainting fit of Maharaj. But Maharaj had only been feigning unconsciousness. Soon he got up and went his way.
