Viśveśvara cites it here as an example of the figure Samkara, he comments on this gåtha as follows : "अत्र प्रकृष्टगुणनायकप्रतीति: प्रकृताशोकवृत्तान्तेनेति समासोक्तिः । किं वा अप्रस्तुताशोकवृत्तान्तेन प्रस्तुतपुरुषप्रतीत्या अप्रस्तुतप्रशंसेत्युभयसंभवात् सन्देह : । प्रकरणादेर्निर्वाहकस्याभावात् । (पृ. ४११).
