A soul becomes the doer of the Bhāva of the soul. These Bhāva of Jñāni (one with right knowledge) are filled with Jñāna (right knowledge) and those of spiritually ignorant being (Ajñānī) are filled with spiritual ignorance (Ajñāna). [126]
Due to Bhāva filled with spiritual ignorance (Ajñāna) an ignorant being (Ajñāni) becomes the doer of Karma, and due to Bhāva filled with Jñāna a Jñānī does not become the doer of Karma. [127]
Annotation
Whatever happens in the Upayoga of the soul is to be considered as the activity or the Bhāva of the soul. It may be noted that the Upayoga is different from the physical body and mind. The first line of Gāthā 126 says that a soul becomes the doer of the Bhāva of the soul.
A Jñānī has true understanding and trust in the basic spiritual principles (Tattva). One who is not jñāni is an Ajñānī. The second line of Gāthā 126 says that the Bhāva of a Jñānī are filled with Jñāna (true knowing), and those of Ajñāni are filled with Ajñāna (spiritual ignorance or erroneous knowing).
A Jñānī has true understanding regarding the Self and others. He identifies himself with his own soul or Upayoga, not with physical body and mind (Gāthā 36, 38, 75). An Ajñāni has false understanding or ignorance regarding the Self and others. An Ajñāni identifies oneself with the physical body, mind and others. Therefore, he considers actions of the body and mind as his own. actions. Due to such false ownership, the Bhāva of an Ajñānī are
filled with Ajñāna or false notions. Jain Education International For Personal & Private Use Only
