Whatever virtuous or sinful Bhāva are done by the soul, the soul in fact becomes the doer of those Bhāva. Those Bhāva become the actions of the soul, and those Bhāva are endured (experienced) by the soul. [102]
Annotation
Before going further, let us understand the meaning of śubha and Aśubha Bhāva used in this stanza. There are two kinds of Bhāva:
(1) Pure or Suddha Bhāva, and
(2) Impure or Aśuddha Bhāva. Again Aśuddha Bhāva are of two kinds:
(i) śubha (virtuous) Bhāva, and (ii) Aśubha (sinful) Bhāva.
To experience the Self as a knower and pure (different from Bhāva of liking or disliking or Bhāva of making any change) is a pure or Suddha Bhāva. A Bhāva of liking or disliking or making any change is an impure Bhāva. It is impure because it is tainted with inclination for changing other material things and beings. If the desire of making any change is sinful then it is an Aśubha Bhāva. If it is virtuous then it is a Subha Bhāva.
Based on Gāthā 92, 93, 101 and others (for example, see Gāthā 126, 127) one can see that Subha and Aśubha Bhāva are done by a spiritually ignorant being (Ajñānī), and a spiritually ignorant being (Ajñānī) becomes the doer of such Bhāva. The commentary of this Gāthā by Ācārya Amstacandra also suggests that in this
