३७. द्रव्यभावमेवानि ।
37. dravyabhāvabhedāni.
(Aph.) They are different quâ physical and quâ psychical. (XXXVII) ३८. निर्व त्युपकरणे द्रव्येन्द्रियम् ।
कर्णशष्कुल्यादिरूपा बाह्या, कदम्बकुसुमादिरूपा चाभ्यन्तरीया पौद्गलिकआकाररचना - निर्वृत्तिः ।
तत्र श्रावणाद्युपकारिणी शक्तिरुपकरणम् ।

38. nirvṛttyupakarane dravyendriyam.
karṇaśaşkulyadirūpā bāhyā, kadambakusumādirūpă cābhyantarīya paudgalika-ākāraracanā─nirvṛttiḥ.
tatra śrāvaṇādyupakāriņī saktir upakaranam.
(Aph.) The organic structure and its efficiency constitute the senseorgan quâ physical. (XXXVIII)
(Gloss) The material structure of the external organ in the form of orifice of the ear and the like, and the internal organ in the shape of globular kadamba-flower and the like are typical of the sense-organ quâ organic structure or nirvṛtti, and the capacity which makes it responsive to auditory perception and the like is the sense-organ quâ efficiency (upakaraṇa).
३६. लब्ध्युपयोगौ भावेन्द्रियम् ।
ज्ञानावरणादिकर्मक्षयोपशमजन्यः सामर्थ्य विशेषो - लब्धिः । अर्थग्रहणरूप आत्मव्यापार–उपयोगः । सत्यां लब्धौ निर्वृत्त्युपकरणोपयोगाः । सत्यां च निवृत्तौ उपकरणोपयोगौ । सत्युपकरण उपयोगः ।
39. labdhyupayogau bhāvendriyam.
jñānāvaraṇādikarmakṣayopasamajanyaḥ samarthyaviseṣo-labdhiḥ. arthagrahaṇarūpa ātmavyāpāra-upayogaḥ. satyāṁ labdhau nirvṛttyupakaraṇopayogāḥ, satyam ca nirvṛttau upakaraṇopayogau. satyupakarana upayogaḥ.
(Aph.) The sense-organ quâ psychical is (of two kinds, viz.) attainment and conscious activity. (XXXIX)
