Once we stop confusing the different planes, we cease to apply mechanisms to planes where they do not work. Confusing the planes is one of the main causes of our misinterpreting this world's mechanisms. It effectively retains us on the lower stages of development.
We e.g. easily confuse the plane of names (nama) with the plane of facts (blava). How often do we accept the words of others at face value and then become upset when their actions do not match their words. How often do we try to persuade someone with words who can only be convinced by our actions - which takes considerably greater effort. How do someone's words (e.g. a politician) excit us though he never means what he is saying and has no intention to act as announced.
In a similar way we often mistake the plane of selection (sthapana) for the plane of facts (bhava). We experience this as the desire to see events as we want to see them, and not as they really are. This prevents us from understanding that what we want to perceive is only one part of reality, not its entirety.
Consciously handling the four planes does not kill spontaneity. Though we separate the four planes' mechanics, our life stays one holistic experience. As we effortlessly are able to cook, listen to the radio and converse with others all at the same time, we can also easily handle the four planes while conducting all other activities. - The plane of names (nama) is focussed on the external part of our life. On this plane we assign names and meanings to objects, situations and events we confront. We do not experience these objects, situations etc. on this plane. This happens on the plane of facts - bhava - where individual features of the elements (or a combination of them) manifest in the present.
All communication with our fellow people happens on the plane of names. Here we deal only with names and terms. Here we exchange only names and terms.
But names and terms are far more than mere naming, are far more than the mere words we assign to objects, situations etc.
