SUTRAS
(28) Direct mental perception (manah-paryaya) perceives far subtler
forms than extrasensory perception (avadhi). (29) Omniscience (kevala jnana) perceives all elements and all their
manifestations simultaneously. (30) One up to four channels of knowledge can be active simultane
ously. (31) - Sense-perception (mati)
- knowledge from external sources (sruti) and - clairvoyance (avadhi)
can also produce error. (32) Someone trapped in error does not discriminate between the
real and the unreal. Like a lunatic he assigns meaning to objects
and events that is subjected to his constantly changing moods. (33) Knowledge from partial sight (naya) is gained in seven steps:
1 - outlining an indistinct experience (naigama) 2 - recognizing the interconnected whole behind the experi
ence (sangraha) 3 - identifying its functional elements (vyavahnya) 4 - asserting what really manifests in the present (rjul sutra) 5 - deepening the insight by verbally describing it (sabda) 6- condensing this conscious insight into one clear image
(samabhirudha) 7 - integrating this one clear image into our consciousness
(evambhuta).
