955 hāsyam vinā rasaih pūrņaḥ svato, brāhmaṇa-nāyakaḥ. hīnópanāyakaḥ kvā’pi śmaśānā”di-samākulaḥ, ūļhā punarbhūḥ kanyā vā tāḥ syuḥ saciva-viprajāḥ. mālatī mādhavasyéva kamalasya kalāvatī. angāni saptavimśat syur utkanthā”dīni ca kramāt, utkanthā cávahitthañ ca prayatnā”samsane api, tarkaś ca samsayas tāpaḥ udvego maurkhya(dhya ?)meva ca. ālasya-kampāgati-vismayāssādhanam tathā ucchvāsas ca tathā"tankah sūnyatā ca pralobhanam. natyam sampheta āśvāsah santoșā’tiśayas tathā, pramadaś ca pramādaś ca yuktiś capi pralocanā. prasastiś ceti kathitāny angāny atraiva silpake udāharanametesām
parastād eva vaksyate.” (pp. 376, 7 ibid) This means that silpaka has four acts and four vịttis. It has all rasas but for the hāsya. The hero is a bramin and the assistant of the hero is a lowly born person. At times we come across descriptions of the burning ghat etc. The heroine is a widow married for a second time, or a girl. They are daughters of a minister or a brahmin as is Mālati of Madhava, and Kalāvati of Kamala.
There are 27 angas or features such as utkanthā, avahitthā, prayatna, etc. We cannot trace these angas at a single place. Some of them look like vyabhicārins
