SAHṚDAYĀLOKA
This rather long quotation from Dr. Raghavan is not for nothing. We humbly and honestly feel that Dr. Raghavan has been harsh and also perhaps bold in his observations on Sāradātanaya. We will explain our position as
follows.

To begin with, Dr. Raghavan observes that Śāradātanaya himself saw actually all the thirty types... played by the natyā"cārya named Divākara. The actual words from the B.P. read as: (pp. 2, 3 Edn. Angrawal)
"adhita-veda-vedángo vardhamanaḥ piturgṛhe,
kadācic chāradām devīm
upāsitum upayayau, upāsya savanam tasyāś caitra-yātrā-mahotsave, āsīnām nartanā❞gāre tām devīm prekṣakaiḥ saha, pranamya, tair anujñātas tasyäḥ pārśvam upāviśat. trimśat-prakāra-bhinnāni rūpakāņi pṛthak pṛthak nataiḥ prayujyamānāni bhāvábhinayakovidaiḥ. drṣṭvā, sa devīm varadām nātyavedam ayācata, nātyāśālāpatiḥ kaścid divakara iti dvijaḥ. tayaiva natyavedasya niyukto'dhyāpane tadā. prītas so'pi sadāśivasya śivayorgaurya matam vāsuker vāgdevyā'api nāradasya ca muneḥ kumbhodbhava-vyāsayoḥ,
