इसके बाद चन्द्रपुरी के शासन राजा महासेन और रानी लक्षमण को पुष्य शुद्ध द्वादशी के दिन श्री चन्द्रप्रभ स्वामी पैदा हुए। लौकिक (सांसारिक) जीवन २९ साल बिताने के बाद पुष्य शुद्ध त्रयोदशी के दिन चन्द्रपुरी में सन्यास की दीक्षा स्वीकार करके समस्त कर्मों का त्याग करके फाल्गुन शुद्ध सप्तमी के दिन केवल ज्ञान पाकर आठवें तीर्थङ्कर के रूप में अपने को उन्होंने प्रकट किया। वे अपना पार्थिव शरीर छोड़कर भाद्रपद शुद्ध सप्तमी के दिन मेक्ष को प्राप्त हुए।
65 SHRI CHANDRAPRABHA SWAMY
The gth of the Tirthankaras is Shri Chandraprabha Swamy. He was born to King Mahasena and Queen Lakshmana, rulers of Chandrapuri on a Pushya Shuddha Dwadasi (corresponding to the twelfth day of the waxing phase in the tenth month of the lunar calendar). For some time he led a secular life but soon his mind was bent upon taking the vow of monkhood. So he took the vow at Chandrapuri itself on a Pushya Shuddha Trayodasi (corresponding to the thirteenth day in the waxing phase of tenth month in the lunar calendar). Having broken all the earthly bonds and attachments (the effect of Karmas) Shri Chandraprabha Swamy attained Kevalajnana, thus becoming an Arhantha on a Phalguna Shuddha Sapthami (corresponding to the seventh day in the waxing phase of the twelfth month in the lunar calendar). He revealed himself as 8th of the Tirthankaras. He left his earthly abode on a certain Bhadrapada Suddha Sapthami (corresponding to the seventh day in the waxing phase of the sixth month in the lunar calendar).
