Săgaradatta and Gangadattă who gave him the name of Udumbaradatta.
During one of his voyages, Sāgaradatta was shipwrecked in which he died. When this news reached home, Gangadattā also died of the shock, and Udumbardatta was turned out of his house by the creditors of the family. The young boy fell into bad company and as a result of the sins that he had committed in his earlier life
he suffered from terrible diseases and was brought to the miserable state in which Gautama had seen him.
Gautama then wanted to know what would happen to Udumbaradatta hereafter. Mahävira said he would live for seventy two years and after his death he would spend his time in Ratnaprabhà region of the hell. He would then be born as a cock. He would be killed by a group of wicked persons. He would then be born in a family of merchants in the city of Hastinapura and meet an ascetic with whose help he will finally seek his liberation in the Saudharma part of heaven.
