He wondered how the Pāndavas managed to cross such a mighty river. They must indeed be terribly powerful. Perhaps, they did not defeat Padmanabha on some purpose. The Gangā made a clear passage for Krsna and he walked across. When he met the Pāndavas on the other side, he complimented them on their physical strength because of which they could easily cross the river and asked them on what purpose exactly they had refrained from vanquishing Padmanābha. The Pandavas then confessed their own little trickery and told him how they concealed the boat in which they had crossed the river. Krsna was furious at this and did not like the Pandavas' intention of putting his strength to test like this. They should have realised that he had crossed the Lavana-sea which was two hundred thousand yojanas broad, defeated Padmanabha, destroyed his whole capital city and brought Draupadi back to them all by himself. He marched away to his own city of Dväravati and the Pändavas returned to Hastinapura to tell their father, King Pandu about Krsna's order of banishment and what had brought it about. Their father blamed them for their behaviour and asked Kunti to go to Krsna to ask him, since he was the lord of the entire southern half of Bhārata, where exactly the Pāndavas should go, since they have been banished out of his kingdom. Krsna discovered a patch of uninhabited land on the southern sea coast and suggested that the Pändavas could go there and worship and propitiate him.
Kunti accordingly reported to king Pandu who directed his sons to proceed to the place on the southern sea coast and found a city and name it Pāndumathurä.
