Miya, and coming out of her house, came to where the blessed Samanı Mahávíra was and said, “Being permitted by you, Sir, I went towards Queen Miya's house (doron to) he eats that pus and blood.' What did he do that he lives so miserably ? “ Thus, indeed, Goyama, in the Bháraha 2 country of this very continent of Jambu there was a city named Saya. duvára. (Its description.) In the city of Sayaduvára there was the king named Dhanavai. (His description.) Neither very close to it, nor very far from it, to the south-east direction of the city Sayaduvára, there was a town called Vijayavaddhamáŋa. The extent of the district Vijayavaddhamana consisted of five hundred villages.
22. In the town Vijayavaddhamána, there was the district-officer,' named Ekkái who was wicked (down to) taking delight in cruelty. That Ekkái, the distriotofficer lived enjoġing the lordship over five hundred villages of the district-town Vijayavaddha mána.
23. Now that Ekkái, the district-officer, used to suppress and empoverish the five hundred villages of the district Vijayavaddhamára by means of various taxes, cesses, bribes, 5 and illegal presents.
