The prominent among then were Bhishma the grand sire of the whole family and the preceptor Drona who was the most accomplished teacher in the art of weaponry and the respected guru of both Pandvas and Kauravas. war.
Both the sides prepared for war. Kauravas were in power and hence could obtain the support of many powerful kings of the known world which covered practically the whole of the modern South-East Asia and could collect an army which far exceeded the army in support of Pandavas.
