He illustrated his contention by pointing out that if a person is injured by an arrow shot at him in his chest, would you prefer to waste time in the inquiry whether the arrow was posioned or not and whether the person who shot it had sufficient reasons for his assault or would prefer to take him at once to the nearest hospital to save his life? Thus his approach to the psychological ailment of human life was quite direct. He pointed that there were four basic truths of human life. One has to face these basic truths by giving priority to them rather than wasting time in metaphysical researches. These basic truths are: (1) Thre is suffering - Dukha - at every stage of human existence. (2) However every suffering has a cause which has given birth to it. - Dukkha Samudaya (3) It is possible to overcome this suffering - Dikkha Nirodha.
