(the five anita theft,
vralas (minor ) unchastity, and
vows) ; (e) accumulation of worldly !
goods, 3. (a) unrestrained desires and ambitions in respect of the field of one's activity, touching
(i) physical move
ments, (ii) the sphere of controlled by
thought, in eo > corresponding wishing evil to 1 guna-vratas,
others, and i (iii) sense-indulgence ;)
(6) fleshly cravings and appetites, non-attachment to the true Self, and indifference to charity, service, and the proper veneration of saints, which are covered by the corresponding sikshā vrutus ;
4. the want of equanimity and dispassion generally.
In positive terms, the merit acquired by the individual in the householder's stage may be put down as follows :
1. the giving up of the seven principal evil tendencies and habits, gambling, hunting, and the like ;
2. the adoption of the three kinds of vows, vamely, (i) five anu-vratüs (minor or qualified
