(8) right rapture, that is mental tranquillity, This eight-fold path is intended to stop the wheel of Lise, which revolves because of twelve kinds of nidanas each of which is caused by the one preceding it, accord. ing to the following enumeration:
(1) ignorance, (2) mental predisposition or karma, (3) consciousness, (4) individuality (vame and form), (5) sensibility, (6) contact (sensory stimulus), (7) sensations, (8) craving, (9) attachment (clinging to life), (10) becoming (existence), (11) birth, and (12) old age, death, grief, lamentation, suffering,
depression and despair...
