The greatest defect of materialism is that it prevents us from the realization of our divine nature, by unduly developing the objective and sensual sides of life. The following comparative table, taken from Hudson's 'Divine Pedigree of Man,' will be found sufficient to show the godly nature of the subjective side of Life, from the realization of which we are at present debarred by our ungodly materialism

Some writers on New Psychology mention an additional faculty, namely, that of clairvoyance as belonging to the subjective mind; but Hudson does not assign to it a separate place in the table, holding that its phenomena are only telepathic in reality. Whether clairvoyance be regarded as a separate faculty of the subjective mind or not, the list is sufficient to convince any one, at a glance, that the nature of the human soul is essentially divine.
