________________ EKING KUMARPAL AND HEM-CHANDRACHARYA The king came straight to his garden The gardener pointed at the palm and asked his gardener trees and said, We have palm trees but their leaves are not as neat and smooth as those from Kashmir. Don't we have palm trees in our garden ? The king looked at the trees and thought He thought further It is said that trees too have guardian deities. I require palm-leaves for scriptures and not for any selfish motive. Why the gods should not be pleased ? If I plant new trees it will take years to get leaves. I should try to improve these.
