Attachment is bondage, detachment liberation
If a person as powerful as Hitler could not exercise control over his desires, can you imagine how difficult this conquest is? Therefore, is it justified to classify contentment as a mark of cowardice? On the contrary, it is a distinguishing mark of the true warrior. It is the quality that makes life worthwhile at a personal as well as a universal level.
Contentment emerges when a person wants to conquer his desires and the first step in this journey is to move with confidence towards limiting one's desires. If you wish to lead a life of contentment, if you wish to live peacefully, then there is only one path – the path of limiting desires (icchā parimāņa). Those who have tread upon this path have made their own lives glorious as well as the lives of others in their vicinity. This is the path of Lord Mahāvīra. This is the path of renunciation. This is the path of sādhanā.
