There have been no essential changes for the second edition except a new "Introduction" and "Acknowledgements." A few changes were made to the stories for stylistic reasons.
For the first edition, thanks must continue to go to Guru Shakti and Jaya Appilipo for transcribing the original audio tapes of Guruji's talks. Also my gratitude goes to Shirley Hardy, an American disciple of Guruji, who introduced me to Guruji and encouraged me to work with him. At the same time a special place must be given to Jeanne Weber for her friendship while I was writing the original versions of the stories with Guruji, in 19823. I want to thank my wife, partner, and travelling companion, Susan Coles, who has accompanied me to India in 1997 and helped me to edit and proof read the final drafts of the book, for both editions.
I would also like to thank those persons who helped me publish the first edition of the book at Worcester State College where I teach philosophy especially the printing department personnel and Michael Duncan Merle who did the art work. Hundreds of American students learned about Guruji and the Jainist philosophy of nonviolence through the first edition of the book.
