________________ SUTRA 24. 129 enumerated on page 127 ante are included in Musical Sounds and class No. 6 (vaisrasika) includes the Noises. Noise is defined by modern science as the sound undesired by the recipient'. The sub-divisions of musical sounds include the vibrations of membranes, strings, rods and plates and air columns. These are respectively tata, vitata, ghana and susiras (See any text-book on sound). Union of matter has been classified as follows : बन्ध (1) tranfere (2) dates (3) ita feruarie (4) rarita fara (12) fa (13) af (5) H ET (7) okt (8) (6) aparat *H (9) preto (10) vršWC (11) vee (1) Prāyogika-Union produced by the efforts of the body, speech or the mind of a person. (2) Vaisrasika--Union produced without any effort of a person. (3) Ajiva-visaya-Union of one kind of matter with another (chemical reactions belong to this class). (4) Jivājīva-visaya-Union of matter with spirit. (5) Karma-bandha-Union of Karmic matter with soul. (For Karmic matter read pages 69 et seq.) (6) No-karmabandha-Physical combinations. (7) Ālapana--As the fastening of a chain to a chariot. (8) Alepana--Painting over a canvas or mural painting. (9) Sarslesa-Dovetail joints in pieces of timber. (10) Sarira--Ligamentary joints of living body. (11) Sarīri-Union of two bodies. (12) Ādi vaisrasika bandha-That which has a beginning and has resulted from a definite cause. such as the union of
