________________ CHAPTER VII. THE SIXTH PREDICATION. Syannastyeva Syadavaktavya Eva Ghatah. Syat-nāsti-eva Syat-avaktavya Eva Ghatah. In some respects, the pitcher does certainly not exist and in some respects, the pitcher is certainly inexpressible. The above is the way in which the sixth manner of predication in the Sapta Bhanga Naya is put. A converse to the fifth Bhanga, this sixth predication consists in attributing a negative aspect to an object and then attributing both a positive and a negative aspect to it simultaneously. It is thus a combination of the second and the fourth modes of predication. This manner of predication presents a new aspect of reality.
