________________ CHAPTER IV. THE THIRD PREDICATION. The third proposition in the Seven-fold predications is stated as: Syadastyova Syannastyeva Ghatah. Syit-asti-eva Syat-nasti-ova Ghatah In some respects, the pitcher does certainly exist and in some respects, the pitcher does certainly not exist. The statement about the fruit-bearing mango-tree would similarly stand as: In some respects, that mango tree does certainly bear fruits and in some respects, that mango-tree does certainly not bear fruits. Apparently, the Third Bhanga is a combination of the first and the second forms of predication. The first predication indicated how within the schemata of time, substance, mood and place, the pitcher could be said to exist and the mangotree, to bear fruits.
