The Mystery Language.
ADAME Blavatsky has come to the conclusion W that in prehistoric times a medium was required through which the learned, of all races and nations, could enter into intelligible relations with each other irrespective of ordinary speech; and, by whose instrumentality, mysteries, withheld from the vulgar, could be recorded and handed down by the initiated ; and has accordingly expressed her belief in the existence of such a medium of inter-communication and transmission, which she has very happily named “ The Mystery Language."
As the result of independent researches I long since arrived at a similar conclusion. I was led to this by a careful and minute study of the earlier portions of the book of Genesis in the unprinted Hebrew text, and published some of the results of these investigations many years since in a work entitled . The Genealogy of Creation’; but as an earnest Roman Catholic, and therefore still in the leading-strings of formal religion, I did not then see to what this view pointed ; and it was only on recovering full liberty of conscience, some fifteen years later, that I realized how much my mind had been hitherto biased, and my judgment warped by the fetters in which they had been so long almost unconsciously held.
