Rev Shri Sushil Kumar Ji was known as the "revolutionary saint" because he broke several taboos in his mission to take Lord Mahavir's message of nonviolence, peace and oneness of all living beings to people in the West. He took the unprecedented and highly controversial step of crossing the ocean with a few monks on 15th June 1975 and traveling to America. This was unheard of for Jain monks at that time as Jain monks normally walk everywhere on foot and are not supposed to use any form of mechanical transportation.

Rev Sushil Kumar Ji reached America and the rest, as they say, is history. His highly successful career in spreading the principles Lord Mahavir took off.
